Pedagogical Implications
My desire is to see how I can ENGAGE students in not just being spectators of Global Events/Issues but activist in SOLVING the issues and becoming ACTIVIST in making others aware. I want students to investigate and participate in the process of being global activist and problem solvers. I want to see what they hope and dream for the future of the world they will live in and what solutions they come up with to fix what has been given to them. To begin that process in my classroom, I’ve begun the journey of creating a project that I hope at least begins to turn the tide of student understanding, engagement and solving of global problems. I plan to do this through a Flat Classroom project that engages students in identifying and solving real world global issues by collaboration with professionals/activist who are already involved in the field. The link above will give you a full detailed view of the pedagogical implications of my compelling question. The project began as a grad school class project and I’ve been building upon it since then. It’s not perfect but it is a beginning and I welcome any suggestions and ideas that would improve the work.
